Fashion Fits: Hot Town Summer In The City

You can wear black and still have your fun pop of colour for summer. The key to this look is the Salmon Bandeau and Headband.  I saved money with this look by making the headband, the vintage black top was free from my mothers closet, and the bandeau was only four dollars!

Summer’s GAWKING over flamingo prints!

Want to know what’s got me simply gawking this summer? While on my trip to Grand Bend last week, I was seeing pink! Flamingo prints are a unique, fashion fad that’s all the hype right now. And, really, I’m in love. Who knew a one-legged bird could cause such a heat over our summer sweating fashion heads?

Here’s a few examples in how our pink-feathered friend is causing such a tropical outlook this summer!

BOSS Black Summer 2012 3D Fashion Campaign! Woah!

CAN I JUST SAY.

HOW. IN. LOVE.

I. AM.

WITH. THIS. CAMPAIGN.

(Matthew, breathe!)

No words can express how my inner fashion aura is glowing over this 3-D campaign right now. It’s stunning! Not only because it’s a unique marketing twist and a clever branding strategy, it’ll catch the sore eyes of customers who spend their days roaming around the earth hopelessly awaiting visual stimulation.

You don’t even need third dimensional glasses to see the campaign, it looks pretty fascinating as is. But if you’re a diva, like myself, you’re always prepared for the up coming campaign trends set by marketing specialists. Which means, you’ve been carrying 3-D glasses for the past two years awaiting for this day. We’re ready for anything. Obviously.

Feast your eyes, Beauts!

Vichy UV Bracelet

image

Vichy, a skin care line, just introduced a bracelet that reacts when UV rays hit it! The stronger the UV ray, the darker purple the bracelet gets. This is to demonstrate that you don’t need to be standing directly in the sun for it the UV rays to affect you.
I then had a genius idea and put sunscreen on one side of the bracelet, and when I went out into the sun, that side did not turn purple!

Fashion Trend Alert! Mesh Shoes!

Summer after summer, we’re constantly looking for something to wear that’ll keep us cool this season. Maybe we’re tired of wearing the generic sandal, flip flop or even old crocs. As I was browsing the interwebs, I’ve discovered the solution to your heat-related issues for your feet. Maison Martin Margiela Défilé has made a shoe that’s not only comfortbale, but also a see-through, mesh-like wear that is not only fashionable to style with your dresses, but it’ll keep you chilled for the scorching temperatures coming up!

I’m definitely a fan of these shoes because they’re flesh coloured and will add a nice breeze to your feet that you wouldn’t normally have! The only downside is that they’re 1000$+ but, maybe some other company will come up with a knock-off so everyone can enjoy this great invention!

Coral for Summer

Original designs by Fanshawe’s own; Kali Orenchuk, Sebastian Taborda Guarin, Christine Petric and Megan Shepherd. Models are wearing coral toned eye shadows and blush.

As the school year is quickly coming to an end and summer is just around the corner, it’s time to put away your heavy moisturizers and foundations and bring out the colours of the summer! Even though summer is a time when most people put away their makeup, you can still add pops of colour to brighten your complexion and makeup looks, especially for any nights out. This summer, try adding the charming colour of coral to your cheeks, eyes, lips or even your complexion!

When some people first look at the colour coral, they are terrified of its intensity and swear that they will never wear it. The truth is, if the right shade is picked and is properly applied, coral can look good on anyone. For someone who is just going out and about on a summer day and doesn’t really want to wear any makeup, putting on a coral lipstick can add a fresh look to your appearance. If you have a fair skin tone, stick with cool-toned corals as these will suit you best. If you have a bit more colour to your skin tone, you can really pull off any coral. If you have a dark skin tone, the brightest corals work the best.

If you aren’t much of a lipstick wearer, you can always add some coral to your complexion by using a primer and/or blush. Lise Watier has a duo primer that has a coral/apricot colour to it that is perfect to give a glow to the complexion and can be worn alone. However, if you are very fair, I would personally avoid using this product, or use very little of it, because you don’t want to end up looking orange. If you just want a little bit of colour on your cheeks, Benefit’s Coralista is the best blush to use because you can use it for just a sheer glow or you can build it up and get a really bright burst of colour.

Lastly, coral makes for a beautiful eye shadow colour that can be used for a simple and fun look or can be made to look more sophisticated for an evening out. For a day look you could use a glittery coral eye shadow with some dark brown eyeliner and black mascara and you’d be set. It’s simple but would make for a fun summer look. For an evening out, you could use a matte coral eye shadow and contour it with a chestnut brown colour, and then add on final touches with black eyeliner and some false eyelashes!

Next time you go out to look for your summer shades, don’t be afraid to try on some coral because chances are it will look stunning on you. If you still aren’t convinced, buy an inexpensive coral lipstick that suits your skin tone and wear it around for a day; count the number of compliments you get; you may be surprised!

Fashion is Sailing Through Summer 2012

You don’t need to be a world explorer venturing the 7 seas to be “above board” this summer. Because fashion’s ship is docking in every nearby harbor close to you.

So, do not fret. You don’t need to live on an island, or own a yacht to find, or afford, these sea-leg fashions. In JRW Beauty, we land-lovers are even all about the nautical sensation that is bold stripes, crochet sweaters, boat neck dresses/shirts and chiffon button up shirts! Ride the waves, pull your masts, and point your compasses north to find your perfect summer outfit by coasting to any popular retailer such as Bluenotes, H&M, American Apparel or even Joe Fresh! My radar is telling me to drop our anchors.. because fashion is avoiding the mainstreams, and gazing the reefs this season.

The hysteria about embroidery!

Have you been tested for the latest infection that’s been going around lately? Apparently, Bottega Veneta, Nina Ricci and the crew over at Prada, Burberry Prorsum and Dior have been diagnosed with terminal malignant hyperactive.. embroidery syndrome. “Eh.. what?” I know, it’s fabulous.

This Spring/Summer, designer icons such as the fashion gods above, have taken “mosaic vertigo” to a whole new level. It’s spreading like wildfire as tops, blazers, pant-suits, dresses and skirts are rid with the epidemic as large pieces of jewelery are sewn in decorative patterns and shapes to create beautiful, artistic collages that are sure to draw attention. From clunky pieces of plastic, to colourful beads, to painted wood, to even glass! If you’re all about visual presentation and surely want to make eye’s pop, then drop your surgical masks everyone. Let the cubic assemblage fashions take-over your wardrobe as it’s gone from viral to haute coutoure!
