Tyra Banks FIRES Miss Jay, Mr Jay and Nigel Barker!

Woah! uhm, what? Yes. It’s true. Tyra Banks single-handedly let go of 3 team members from the show- for good. Nigel Barker, Miss Jay and Mr. Jay all woke up this morning to a delicately put letter from the producers of the television program that they were dismissing them and were not renewing their contracts for the next season; Cycle 19. But why? Tyra Banks wants a fresh start to her show for next season. She realises that the show has begun to go down hill since the bogus cycle 17 and lack-luster cycle 18 so far. They’re not bringing in the views and ratings are severely low from previous cycles.

The show started way back in 2003, Nigel, Mr.Jay and Miss Jay have all been moguls for the show since the beginning, becoming house hold names and really making the show so much fun to watch. Nigel being the great, sexy photographer that he is, Mr. Jay being the amazing creative director and Miss Jay being the fabulous runway coach; We’re wondering if people will watch the show without them! Will they be replaced? Or will the show just go without them?

I believe what Tyra’s mentality was, was that getting rid of these familiar faces, will somehow “renew” the credibility and focus to the show. Therefore, really bring in the respect from the industry and viewers like it had many years ago. Tyra said that she’s going for a more “social base” for this season. Meaning, she’s not going to focus so much on people who are leading in the fashion industry, but more.. bringing inĀ  fashion bloggers and online-celebrities to mentor the new crop of girls.

Okay, my point of view or impression of this new cycle coming up this Fall will that it will be much more serious than the previous two cycles. I think the photo shoots will actually be geared towards being put in magazines, more high fashion shots.. and have a more overall ‘vogue’ feel to the show. Since the world is very-much social media based, having these guests from the interwebs judging the competition- such as Bryan Boy- will really make the girls have a much larger fan base and be much more recognizable to their individual fan bases, designers, and clientel etc.

Tyra wants to go down the route of Cycle 1. She wants the ‘magic’ of cycle 1 to be restored into cycle 19. Since Cycles 1, 2 and 3 were mega hits which made it such a phenomenon, she feels cycle 19 may have a chance at that same feeling too. It’s a fresh start for Top Model and I’ll be tuning in, for sure! It sounds promising. As long as the show doesn’t do forgettable photo shoots such a the hot dog shoot for cycle 17 and the hello kitty photo shoot coming up next week. Lame. Could you ever see those is a reputable magazine? No.

But, what do you think JRWettes? Do you like the direction the show is headed, will you watch even though three lovable judges are now gone for next season? I guess we’ll just have to stay tuned to see how it goes!

He/She? Who’s who!

If there must be one admirable quality that I had to choose from a model, it wouldn’t just be their ability to walk the runway, their photogenic senses, or even their fierce eyes. It would be if they could pass as the opposite gender. Yes! Androgyny. That to be my absolute favourite quality that a model can have. Not only can they appeal to the brands of their own gender, but they can relate to the consumers of the opposite sex too! It’s the best of both worlds, really.

Famous models such as Andrej Pejic, Jenny Shimizu and Azmarie Livingston are only few of the models out there in the fashion industry who can fool anyone with their looks. Their ability to camouflage their appearances as the opposite gender is not only an art, but a unique talent that not everyone can pull. Genetics definitely has a major influence on that, obviously. That’s why drag queens put on so much make-up. Try hards ;)

Can you guess who is male or female? Here’s a hint, there’s 7 girls and 3 boys in the picture below.
