There’s been an unusual trend happening on the runways of the world today. If you aren’t aware of who Shaun Ross, Diandra Forrest, Stephen Thompson or Connie Chiu are; well, they’re albino supermodels. Fascinating right? I mean, they’re not aliens- even though Shaun’s already appeared as one in Katy Perry’s “Futuristic Lover” and a hipster in Beyonce’s “Party” music video.
All four of these models have achieved great success in their careers, despite their appearance. Shaun has graced campaigns for British GQ, and Italian Vogue, as well as modelling for Alexander McQueen and Givenchy. Diandra is now signed with Elite, has had several campaigns shot, as well as a spot in a Kanye West music video and Stephen has modeled for the likes of Tommy Hilfiger and Givenchy. Whilst Connie hasn’t had much success in print for major labels, she certainly has a large portfolio of small runway and prints for small magazines! Way to go!
I think it’s a wonderful thing that the modelling industry is open to the idea of having someone who does not have a “conventional” look to model for them. It broadens the perspective to what people think beauty is. Being beautiful isn’t a narrow path, it’s a broad spectrum of lights that all come together into one glow. That’s what the team at JRW Beauty believes. Whether you’re Caucasian, African, Latino, Asian, Native, Middle Eastern, Arab, or even Albinistic. Love the skin you are in!
